In School District #23, the NOLC is endorsing Wayne Broughton for School Trustee for its by-election on June 26, 2021.
As the voice of 8000+ unionized workers in the Okanagan Valley, we have determined that, out of the four candidates running, Wayne's values and platforms best align with the interests of the working class and unions.
Wayne sees staff as the core of the education system and believes they deserve to be supported. A long time advocate for children and families, Wayne believes passionately in making schools welcoming and inclusive. Long term planning and an eye towards developing STEM opportunities round out his platform. Wayne is a member of the UBC Faculty Association and has taught mathematics in Kelowna for 25 years. He is married with two children
